Calvin Eaton Presents:
Big Feelings, Smart Tools: SEL Skills for Families
A 4-Week Workshop Series for Families
Location: Irondequoit Public Library
Format: 4-week series | 2-hour sessions each week
Audience: Families with children in grades 2–4
Attendance: Families are strongly encouraged to attend all four in-person sessions together
Overview
Big Feelings, Smart Tools: SEL Skills for Families is a four-week, in-person workshop series designed to help families build shared language and practical tools for emotional awareness and self-regulation. The program is intentionally structured for children in 2nd–4th grade, with developmentally appropriate instruction, movement, visuals, and discussion.
Each session includes a live SEL lesson taught by Calvin Eaton and demonstrated with children in real time while parents observe the instructional approach, pacing, and language being used. Following the lesson, parents participate in guided discussion and Q&A with Calvin to unpack strategies and explore how to apply them at home and school.
During the parent learning portion, children enjoy a gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free snack and work on a guided craft connected to the session’s SEL focus. Skills build from week to week, which is why families are strongly encouraged to attend the full four-session series.
