Speaking & Workshops
Let’s turn shared learning into daily practice.
I lead talks and workshops for schools, nonprofits, workplaces, and community groups. We explore how to make room for people and respond to their needs.
I draw on my life and work to guide honest talks about disability, learning, and how we treat one another.
Topics We Can Explore
Disability & Access
How do we make daily work and learning fit more people? We can explore chronic illness, disabilities others may not see, and neurodivergence. This includes different ways people think, sense, and learn.
We can also look at ableism: unfair views or treatment of disabled people.
Stress & Communication
How can staff notice stress and respond with care in tense moments? We can practice ways to pause, choose words, and seek help.
We can also explore how past harm may shape a person’s response. Practice will follow your team’s current safety and support plans.
Fairness & Belonging
We can look at bias, habits, and rules that affect how people are heard and treated. We can also discuss microaggressions: words or acts that send hurtful messages about a person’s identity.
There is room to think about harm, even when it was not intended, and practice what to do next.
Teaching & Family Learning
We can explore how children learn, manage feelings, and work with others. Topics also include working with families and supporting different ways of thinking and learning.
Recipes as Curriculum™ & Food-Based Learning
A recipe can be a rich text for reading and learning. Food can also help us explore science, history, culture, and more.
I can share the teaching approaches I’m building and ways to use them in tutoring, classrooms, homes, and community programs.
Ways to Work Together
Keynote talks and guest talks.
Lunch-and-learns and staff talks.
Workshops with practice in small groups.
A series of sessions or a longer consulting project.
We can discuss meeting in person, online, or both. The length, staff needed to lead, access plans, and fee will depend on the work.
Planning With Your Team
We’ll start with your goals and who will take part. I’ll ask what feels hard, what training you’ve had, and how many people will attend. We’ll also talk about access, timing, and budget.
The plan may include reading, slides, practice cases, a resource sheet, or follow-up. No one will need to share their personal story with a group.
Bring Me Into the Conversation
Tell me about your team and what you hope to learn. We can plan a session that fits your goals and time.
